This backpack comes in a little carry bag of its own, but when you open it, you come to see that it is the inside of the bag that has been folded and creates a bag in itself. I think that's a really smart idea! I was worried it might be a little small when I opened it up, but was pleasantly surprised by the amount that it can hold. I have used it for a few different trips, including walking, shopping and general wandering around and have found it incredibly useful. I don't think it would be waterproof based on the material. but if it rains it would keep the rain off your items. Overall a great product.

The 18L Waterfly backpack is a really lightweight product. The product description mentions that this backpack only weighs 210g. However, my kitchen scale shows just 189g. This backpack could be folded in a really compact size which it makes it ideal to carry with you as an additional backpack. For example, you could take this foldable bag among your stuff for camping and then you could unfold and use it for walks or excursions from your campsite. This backpack is small, just 18L, but it offers enough space to carry with you the essential items that you might need for one-day walk (jacket, wallet, glasses, phone, an extra t-shirt and water). The backpack has two mesh side pockets that could fit one litre of water bottle each. It would be advisable not to overload this backpack because the straps are not much cushioned, so it could not be very comfortable to carry a heavy bag for long time. The same small pouch that is used to store the backpack when it’s folded, it could be used to store small items (key, bank cars, etc) when the bag is unfolded. I’m impressed with the quality of the product: high-quality, tear-resistant and wear-resistant polyester fabric. Maybe this backpack is not the lighter of the market, but it still packs with really good features.

I think the listing images for this rucksack are a little misleading. It isn’t as large or as solid as they perhaps suggest. The strength of this bag is its versatility. It is not in any way a primary rucksack for travel. It folds down and packs away into a tiny pouch (see image). It weighs next to nothing. The pouch it is contained in eventually turns inside out and becomes an inside pocket within the main rucksack compartment. It works because it has a reversable zip. It’s a nice bit of design work. Inside the main body of the bag there is also an elasticated pocket which offers the option of separating the main storage area into two compartments. Outside there are the elasticated mesh pockets on each side. For something that takes up so little room when folded up I think this is a useful little bag.

It's a well- made backpack and I would imagine that it will serve for many years. It's definitely suited to day tripping as it's a lightweight backpack. I would happily throw in a whole bunch of things- keys; water bottle; books; an iPad (if it was in a protective case). I think, best to not overload it as it's more happy- go- lucky than out for a very serious trip. But for a days adventure- definitely. You can scrunch it up and it would slot into your jacket pocket. That's cool.

This backpack is surprisingly capacious. It has a pocket inside that easily holds an 11" tablet and a second smaller pocket with a reversible zip for keys and small items. The small pocket turns inside out to become a pouch to pack the backpack into when not in use. The main section of the bag is a good size to hold clothing and other items needed on a day out and it has two mesh pockets suitable for water bottles. The backpack does lack padding in the back and straps usually found in backpacks but it is a necessary compromise to make it light and packable. The quality appears good with strong fabric and perfect seams.

I have tried a few of these over the years, there is always a trade off when it comes to a larger backpack and added bulk or weight to the packed away size. I think this product has the balance right. As a backup backpack 18 litres is quite a size (standard day packs seem to hover around 12 - 15 litres generally), the extra 3 - 6 litres on this pack is good if extra space is needed. The pack is well made, material, zips etc are all well made and no issues with stitching or quality of finish. As with all backpacks when taken out of storage they look a little creased, again this is a trade off and won't bother most people (not me anyway!). There seems to be a lack of padding on the straps, I tend to travel light but this could be a problem if used for a prolonged period of time with a heavier load. I would class this bag as an occasional use type of bag, one to take with you if you don't think you need. bag or to put inside another backpack if you are going to buy extra things to share the load with someone else. Not bad, 1 star off for the lack of padding on the straps.

I’m so glad I ordered this pack-away rucksack. I need it for my upcoming holiday abroad where I will be limited to hand luggage only. What is great about this rucksack is that it packs away easily into its own pouch (sometimes this can be tricky to do but it was very simple) but unfolds into quite a sturdy rucksack. It isn’t fully lined like a proper hiking rucksack, but the shoulder straps are padded and all the zips and other straps are really nice quality. It is going to be perfect for me to put in my handbag but then have to use for shopping, carrying snacks and water on walks etc. Definitely recommended.

I like the colour and the general shape of this ultralight rucksack, and the fact that it can be folded up so small is great. However it does have a big drawback, for me. The thing that surprised me about this, particularly given the price, is that the bag straps aren't padded at all. I have two other fold-down rucksacks which both have some padding to the shoulders for comfort. That this doesn't rather limits its use, I think. I was intending to take it along on camping hikes as a day-pack that I could just stow in my larger pack until I needed it, but now I think I'll have to either choose to have it as a more casual spare carry-bag for about town, or take the time to adapt it and add some padding myself. I haven't decided which, yet. So that is a bit disappointing, and I've docked a star for the omission. Compactness is all very well, but you can't compromise useability and comfort for it. On the plus side the general manufacture seems of good quality. The zipper seems pretty robust, and the stitching and seams all seem neat, with reinforcement at several points, such as the top of the shoulder straps. The fabric is standard ripstop polyester, but in general it seems well put together and sturdy. I wouldn't like to overload it, but the I don't think it would be very comfortable if you did, anyway. It has the standard but very useful design of most ultralights, and folds down into its own sewn-in pocket, which becomes a handy internal zipped pocket when you open it up. Also like most bags of this type, it seems able to withstand a light shower, but will need waterproofing if you want to use it in any worse conditions. In all I'd say it's quite a nice, handy little ultralight. Not too big, but enough for a few-hours hike, and of a nice neutral colour that could be used by a man or a woman.
